Abstract
Objective: One of the most common disorders of childhood and adolescence is attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder. The prevalence of this disorder in childhood is 4 to 6 percent. This disorder has a great effect on the child and his environment. The effects of this disorder on children include difficulty in behavioral inhibition, executive functions, problem in sustained targeted behavior and impaired adaptive skills. In addition, the presence of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder in the family imposes an additional task and increases psychological pressure on parents, often causing a variety of psychological problems such as depression and negative mood. Various treatment methods such as medication therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy are used to treat this disorder. Saunders has proposed positive parenting program training. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of positive parenting training in mothers of children with ADHD on reducing the symptoms of the disorder.
Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study with pretest and posttest with the control group. The target population of this study is all of children with Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity disorder in city of Mashhad. The sample consisted of 20 children aged 8-12 years who were admitted to the psychiatric clinic of Ebne-Sina hospital. The children in this study were selected through Purposive sampling. In this study was used CSI-4 questionnaire for assesses of symptoms of attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder. In this study were used from descriptive and analytic statically method. After implementing the pre-test determined children that had criteria for this study and randomly divided into two groups (control and experimental groups). Mothers of experimental group are presented 8 sessions of positive parenting program training (according to package) and they take necessary education about parenting. But for mothers in the control group was not considered a particular program and they were doing their everyday activities. After implementing the post test, data have been analyzed for operations research. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software. To analyze the data, descriptive and inferential statistical methods were used. To describe the data was used mean and standard deviation and to infer the data was used ANCOVA.
Results: Significant improvements were observed in the experimental group compared to base line and the control group with respect to the symptoms of ADHD in their children (p>0.01). 
Conclusion: The finding of the study can be recommended as a therapeutic method to reduce the symptoms of ADHD in children.
